Inkling is contemporary chamber quartet Spindle Ensemble's second album and the first vinyl release by Hidden Notes Records.

The limited edition vinyl is accompanied by a 12 page signature Hidden Notes booklet featuring artwork, photos, interviews and liner notes from Nick Luscombe (BBC Radio 3 Late Junction):

"2021 sees the arrival of second LP Inkling - which expands on the ideas originated during the BEA sessions, with the work demonstrating more of the group’s versatility and ability to shape many different ideas within the framework of their own unique sound. There is a strong sense on this record of each individual member striving to create a sound that is both dynamic and melodically generous. And it works perfectly."

A selection of pieces from Inkling were released as audiovisual collaborations with various visual artists.

This album was recorded at various churches, studios and concert halls in Bristol using Daniel Inzani's location recording studio of vintage ribbon microphones (Extinct audio and X-Audia). The audio has been captured as an immersive 3D sound image mimicking the listening experience of a live audience member.
